2005 St. Francis Merlot
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00The epitome of average merlot. (76 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2007 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00(88 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2005 Château Carbonnieux Blanc
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Fresh cream and vanilla with a little lemon. Nice with roast chicken and corn. A little green flavors, and a touch of TCA (wet cardboard) that does not seen to have muted the fruit. (90 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2003 Osoyoos Larose Le Grand Vin
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Powerful menthol, cassis nose with a hint of green bean. Sweetish cassis entry with well integrated tannins. Not a hint of herbaceousness. Tingly minerality in the finish. Middle is relatively hollow. Still improving. (89 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2008 Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Lighter, fruit-forward aromas and flavors for easy drinking or fowl. Not as big as 2007, but good. (85 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2004 Domaine du Colombier Hermitage
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00All-around solid N Rhone, just no "wow" factor. (91 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2007 Crane Lake Petite Sirah
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Comes across as a mass-produced product. Light nose and mouthfeel, lacking in body and structure. OK as a casual "sipper". (83 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2007 Cantine Da Vinci Chianti
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Simple and fruity - fairly new world style -- but very well balanced with some good Tuscan flavors as well. Very easy drinking. Excellent value at under USD 10. (87 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2007 Altesino Rosso di Altesino Toscana IGT
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00A brilliantly bright, acidic wine, dominated by sour cherry, raisin, and pepper, with notes of tar and cigar box. Light on the tannins, but still marvelously structured for a very full mouthfeel and an impressive finish. (92 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2001 Turkey Flat Shiraz
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Fruity and jammy and not much else. (87 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2006 Blue Mountain Pinot Noir
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Drinking well now. Lots of fruit. Very smooth. I found this wine quite heavy in texture, not a light wine at all, but the flavors are not overpowering. Went well with lobster ravioli in a cream sauce. (89 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
N.V. Mumm Napa Cuvée M
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Not as generic as Korbel, with some off-dry flavors that make it enjoyable. Still not as good as our favorite. (85 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2007 75 (Seventy Five) Wine Company The Sum
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Vanilla and black fruit on the nose. Plush, almost jammy mix of red and black fruits across the front palate. Angular at first, stretched out with some air. Just a tad light through the middle. Medium finish. Touch of tannins. Wee bit of heat. Nice structure, Pretty decent stuff for $15. (87 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2006 Les Celliers de Meknes Cabernet Sauvignon KSAR Bahia Cuvée Prestige
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00a bit tangy but very nice. possibly a little over the hill. - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2008 Orin Swift The Prisoner
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Certainly an enjoyable effort that paired nicely with grilled ribeye. We probably popped this one a bit too early as it seemed pretty closed, even after two hours in the glass. I like the fact that this blend featured such a luxurious mouthfeel with round tannins and deep, ripe dark fruits, especially black cherries. I can't help but wonder if this wouldn't have been even better after another year, or two in bottle. There is nothing subtle about this satisfying wine, and I think a few more bottles placed into a deep sleep in the old converted closet cellar would do the wine wonders. In the end, and I can't deny the fact, this is a bit of a fruit bomb that tends to be just a tad over the top. (89 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2003 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Vieille Vigne
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00(92 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2007 Hartford Court Chardonnay Four Hearts Vineyards
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Still a bit monolithic but I think the stuff is there to reward a little more patience. (91 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2004 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Central Coast
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00nose: light plum, cherry, strong but not completely identifiable. taste: cherry, a light, general, generic fruity taste. good, not great. since I've drank this twice in a week.....definitely recommend drinking now.... enjoy. (86 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2001 Peter Michael Pinot Noir Le Moulin Rouge
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Awesome now - no better example of being rewarded for aging a fine wine (95 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
2005 Jaffurs Syrah Upslope
Sun, 09/05/2010 - 03:00Getting better...wow! (94 pts.) - Tasted 9/5/2010.
